Dee Gordon Haters Rejoice, News At 11

In the immortal words of Jon Weisman at Dodger Thoughts:

"The Dodgers are not close to giving up on Dee Gordon for good. Not close. Not even 'may.' Not that Gordon hasn't struggled, but I'm sure it's no coincidence that Cruz is coming up the day Gordon had to leave the game because of injury."

So there you have it in a nutshell. So all you Dee haters can go sharpen those pointy heads of yours and start snarking away on Dee and why you think he should be getting on a plane to New Mexico. It ain't happening now or anytime soon.

Why? It just doesn't make any sense too. None. I would make a prediction that - short of some rehab stint - Dee will never play another game in the minors again. He's nowhere close to being the worst player in the majors as some one dimensional stats may show.

Dee Gordon with his awesome raw skills and fantastic work ethic and attitude is the kind of kid all Dodgers fans should be excited to root for. And instead of damming him for every mistake be happy that's he learning in the best classroom there is.

Interesting stuff about another Dodger shortstop from Adam Luther at the Dodger Thoughts chat room:

"Interesting to note that Maury Wills in his first full season (1960) had 40 errors and was in on 78 DP's. In '61 at age 28, he had reduced his errors to 29, and turned 104 DP's.  Of course in '62 he went bonkers on the base paths and in nearly 100 or so more chances from the previous year he only had 36 errors."

Now Hear's A Statistic
The whole my-argument-about-baseball-is-better-than-yours-because-my-advanced-metric-is-better-than- your-bogus-traditional-production-stat-dude is so Clown-like.

Now you want a meaningful stat take a look at this one from a recent chat. I think this was around Friday or Saturday. James Loney 14 GIDP, 21 RBI. Dude that's a monster stat. Hardly anyone survives that kind of stat line.

Tragic Hero of the Day
Today's award goes to Mike Petriello. Today he wrote a Trading Season Primer for his disciples that I hope they reread every day. It listed some important issues when it comes to talking about trades and the like.

It interests me that Stat people who like to think they use reason to develop their hysterical observations of baseball throw it all out the window when it comes to trades. They make so many clown statements about possible scenarios that have no basis in realism or anything resembling knowledge about the Major League Baseball marketplace. Read what Mike said. Remember what Mike said. Practice what Mike said.

In every post it seems all the stat boys are looking forward to Mark Ellis and the obvious boost he brings the Dodgers. These same boys panned his signing as another NED Being NED. How things change.
